Taking Control Of Your Thoughts

Any tool can be used for us or against us, and so can our thoughts.

Many of us think a certain way or believe certain things. More times than not – we are not even aware of it.

If you are thinking automatic negative thoughts (ANTS) that are based on old programming, you might be stuck in a negative loop. These ANTS don’t move you forward. 

Being aware of your thoughts is powerful.

You have the opportunity to change and control your thoughts if you can recognize them.

If you are doing the work to reach a goal and are not finding success, becoming aware of ANTS can change your life. 

When you are able to recognize an unproductive emotion, process it, and understand it, it loses its power to control you. 

This doesn’t mean you never feel a negative emotion around a thought. It means you get to say, “I am thinking this, and I can choose whether I believe it or not.”

We often get stuck asking ourselves why are we feeling a negative thought.  Unfortunately, this has proven to be unproductive because we go down a rabbit hole trying to find negative evidence against ourselves. 

Do not spend a lot of time trying to figure out why you are thinking a thought or where it came from. Simply ask yourself why you’re choosing that thought and know that it’s optional to control your thought now or not.
