Fall produce to stock up on

We can’t talk about fall nutrition without talking about the fall harvest and which fall produce to stock up on.

One of the healthiest diet decisions that you can make is the choice to focus on eating whole foods. And fresh produce is one of the key staples to eating whole foods.

Seasonal fruits and vegetables offer a plethora of vitamin and nutrient-rich options – and pack a serious punch when it comes to health benefits.

The fall harvest is full of delicious options to put on your table:

🍎 Apples

Apples contain flavonoids that are known to reduce inflammation and increase heart health. Apples are also high in Vitamin C (which can boost your immune system) and antioxidants (which can prevent cell damage).

🍐 Pears

Pears are another Vitamin C-rich fruit. They also have a high level of potassium and fiber. Pears have been proven to increase digestive health, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and potentially lower your risk for cancer.

🍠 Butternut Squash

Butternut squash is an excellent source of Vitamin A, C, and E. These nutrients boost your immune system, increase energy, and protect your cells. Squash is rich in potassium and magnesium. Magnesium can have a positive impact on your emotional and mental well-being. Potassium can increase muscle function and lower blood pressure.

🍠 Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Potatoes are rich in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Sweet potatoes are also low in calories and a great source of fiber.

🎃  Pumpkin

Pumpkin is high in vitamin A, Vitamin C, beta-carotene, and antioxidants – all of which boost your immune system. And pumpkins provide potassium. A healthy intake of potassium, Vitamin C, and fiber can increase your heart health.

It’s fall, y’all. 🍂 Enjoy the harvest!!
