Online Exercise Resources

I know everyone’s schedule is a little off right now due to Coronavirus and being quarantined at home, but that’s no reason to stop exercising. We all need to KEEP MOVING! Here are some online exercise resources for you and your family.

Staying active and moving is going to be a key ingredient to getting through this rough patch together without losing our minds. LOL

You don’t have to have an intense workout either. JUST MOVE.

Moving helps relieve stress. As I learned in my Mind-Body Medicine training, sometimes you get stuck in your feelings or thoughts and you just need to shake it out!

Turn on the radio and dance, jump, shake, jog, do some toe touches or cross-body stretches. Anything to get your body moving and get those endorphins going.

Exercising during the day will help you sleep better at night.

Exercising relieves stress. (Which we all need right about now.)

Less stress helps you sleep better too.

Bonus: you’re more likely to loss weight and maintain a healthier body when you have less stress.

So here you go, FREE online exercise resources available to you for at home exercise:

1. REFIT & REV+FLOW on demand

REFIT is where I fell in love with exercise. You can read all about that here.

I love to dance and move where I don’t feel like I’m exercising. It just plain old fun! It’s easy to get the kids involved too.

But the best part of REFIT on Demand is that you will also get access to the REV+FLOW classes too! Y’all this is my second love!

REV+FLOW classes are high intensity, but low impact. You really focus on how you are moving your body. It’s often a lot of core, balance, and strength. I promise you will feel like a champion when you are done. Maybe a tired champion, but a champion none-the-less. LOL

In an effort to stay connected, REFIT is offering FREE access to REFIT® On Demand for 30 days, which gives you unlimited REFIT® workouts 24-hours a day. Workouts are available through any TV, smartphone, or laptop. Use code MONTH4FREE at checkout.

2. YMCA 360

As all of our local YMCAs closed down yesterday the YMCA Houston is offering some online classes for all ages and intensity levels through their new Youtube channel.

This is something they’ve been working on to release in the near future as a membership option, but with the Coronavirus coming into town it’s a good way to offer some at-home workout options for their members.

Start by going here to YMCA 360

There are workouts for Barre, Bootcamps, Yoga, Weightlifting, Tai Chi, Active Older Adults, youth soccer, Y Box (boxing), and youth sports skills. There are 62 different workouts available! I hope you find one you really enjoy.

3. Les Mills Online Sampler

This is a temporary Les Mills site offering some of the most popular classes around!

There is something for everyone in your family! High-intensity interval training, dance fitness, martial arts-inspired BODYCOMBAT, and mindfulness practices. They even have BORN TO MOVE children’s workouts targeted towards kids 4 to 16 years old! There’s also a post-partum series to help new mothers get back to exercise safely. Plus there are technique videos to show you how to safely perform common moves like deadlifts, squats, and clean and press.

When you go to the site you aren’t limited by the first page of choices. Be sure to click on the drop-down menu to see all of the categories.

In all honesty I think Les Mills is being awesome by offering all of these classes for FREE and it’s a great selection!

Be sure to check it out here.

4. YouTube channels to Keep Moving

YouTube has long been a good place to go for quick workout options and there are probably thousands of different personalities on the site that you could choose from to exercise with every day. But I want to share some of my favorites with you!

Of course, I love the REFIT YouTube channel! There are 8 years worth of dance fitness videos for you to choose from and lots of the songs are Christian or family-friendly songs. You can also look at the different intensity levels of the songs before you hit the play button too. They have warmups, cooldowns, toning, low, medium, and high-intensity options. You’ll definitely get a good sweat in no time at all! Here’s my story with REFIT!

My favorite YouTube yoga teacher is Kassandra who teaches some great yin-style yoga over on her channel Yoga with Kassandra. She does offer some Vinyasa yoga flows too, but my heart is really with the Yin style yoga and she has a lot of nice and slow sequences with the longer holds that I so love. She has over 400 videos you can choose from. There are short ten-minute videos to longer 90-minute videos. You are sure to get a good stretch and some relaxing moments. She offers some meditation videos as well.

5. Beachbody Kids Workouts

Beachbody has also now released some of their kids’ workouts on Vimeo for free. There are 16 different fun-themed workouts. The workouts are from 12 minutes to 35 minutes long and will not only help the kids to keep moving, but the whole family can join in!

Check them out here on Vimeo.

6. Revelation Wellness Workouts

Revelation Wellness just released 24 online workouts for FREE. There are classes in spin, strength, cardio, flexibility, barre, Pilates, drumsticks, and a chair workout. The workouts range from 20 minutes to an hour.
