Life is hard. But a daily gratitude practice can make you happier.

Some days it feels like the easiest thing to do is make a list of all of the negative things!

But how often do you take the time to make a list of all of the positive things?

Oftentimes, we can get swept up in our daily responsibilities, challenges, and stressors that we often forget to slow down and practice gratitude for all of the beautiful things around us.

We all want to be happy… and the world around us often leads us to think that happiness exists just over the peak of that next obstacle or just behind that barrier.

If you just had THAT instead of THIS, you would be happy, i.e. the grass is greener.

But the truth is… happiness comes from within us, not from external things.

One of the easiest ways to feel happier today – and every day – is to adopt an attitude of gratitude.

By appreciating the things that you have and consciously choosing to be grateful for the many blessings that are so easy to overlook and that you may take for granted, you can change your mindset… and your life.

Adopting a daily gratitude practice can make you happier because it increases…

… positive mood

… resilience

… hope for the future

… and can even improve your health and your sleep.

By choosing to take time each day to appreciate all that you have AND to appreciate the opportunity for growth in challenges, you also significantly reduce the amount of stress and burnout in your life.

Take a moment each day to appreciate the abundance of God’s goodness that surrounds you.

The air that you breathe, the muscles that move your body, the love that you carry for your family and friends, the food in your cupboards, and clothes in your closet…

And when you catch yourself feeling negative: “How is this laundry pile always sky high when all I feel like all I do is load after a load of wash!??!?!”, practice gratitude instead: “I am lucky that we have this many clothes to keep us warm and comfortable, closets to hang them in, machines to wash them, and loved ones to wear them.”
