3 Healthy Ways to Feed Your Pumpkin Obsession

leaves and a small pumpkin
Do you love pumpkins?

Pumpkin is considered a superfood. Pumpkins are low in calories and chock full of essential vitamins and fiber. Let’s feed your pumpkin obsession in a healthier way!

But grabbing a pumpkin spice latte or a slice of pumpkin pie is a far cry from reaping the health benefits of this super squash. Most pumpkin-flavored drinks and treats are just that – pumpkin flavored. And although pies are usually made with real pumpkin, they also boast a large amount of added sugar and carbs.

The good news is that it is easy to add real pumpkin (canned or fresh) to your diet and feed your pumpkin obsession in a healthy way!

1️⃣ Instead of sugary pumpkin lattes and drinks…

Opt for a pumpkin smoothie made with canned or fresh pumpkin, coconut milk, and a dash of pumpkin pie spice.

2️⃣ Instead of pumpkin special edition cereals, cookies, and other pre-packed foods…

Try mixing canned or fresh pumpkin with a bowl of hot oatmeal. Add a dash of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice for flavor.

3️⃣  Instead of calorie-rich dips and snacks…

Try a pumpkin yogurt dip.

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 3/4 cups pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 – 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 Tbsp maple syrup

Mix together and enjoy with fresh fruit.
