Tis the season for cinnamon spice… and everything nice about it! Do you know that cinnamon has health benefits? Let’s look at 6 surprising perks of cinnamon.

We often associate cinnamon with sugar and a tasty dusting over some of our favorite seasonal desserts. But cinnamon is actually a super spice with a long list of surprising health perks!

While I’m only mentioning 6 benefits here there are many more.

Cinnamon contains high amounts of a compound called cinnamaldehyde.

This compound is responsible for the unique, spicy scent of cinnamon and the multitude of natural perks to your health and your metabolism.

6 Perks of Cinnamon…

1. Decreases bad cholesterol and lowers blood pressure, which lower your potential risk factors for heart disease.

2. Provide a large number of polyphenol antioxidants to fight free radicals in your body.

3. Have significant anti-inflammatory properties that can help with chronic pain and lower your risk for certain diseases.

4. Increase your body’s sensitivity to insulin, which can help prevent diabetes.

5. Lower your blood sugar by limiting the amount of glucose that enters your bloodstream.

6. Potentially fight some bacterial and fungal infections, including certain bacteria that can cause respiratory infections!

Studies suggest that you can reap the many benefits of cinnamon by adding as little as one-half of a teaspoon of powder to your daily diet.

Some of my friends recently told me they like to add cinnamon to their morning coffee or overnight oats!

Some options for including cinnamon in your diet might be cinnamon powder, cinnamon sticks, and cinnamon capsules.
